National Library Awareness Day in BiH "Don't judge a book by its cover"
On the occasion of National Library Awareness Day in BiH, on 22 October 2019, a media conference was held at the Faculty of Philosophy, University of Sarajevo.
On 25 October 2019, the University of Sarajevo celebrates the National Library Awareness Day under the motto Do Not Judge Book by Its Cover. Prof. Dr. Maida Čohodar Husić, University of Sarajevo Vice-Rector for Quality, Doz. Dr. Amir Duranović, Vice-Dean for Scientific Research, International Academic Cooperation and Publishing, UNSA Faculty of Philosophy, Prof. Dr. Senada Dizdar, Department of Comparative Literature and Librarianship, UNSA Faculty of Philosophy, University of Sarajevo, and M.Sc. Nadina Grebović-Lendo, Head of the Library, Faculty of Philosophy and President of the National Library Awareness Day Action Group on behalf of the University of Sarajevo spoke about this landmark event.
It was pointed out that the University of Sarajevo Central Activity will be held on 25 October 2019 from 10:00 to 12:00 at the Faculty of Philosophy under the title Librarize it - Library Fair of the Higher Education Libraries, University of Sarajevo.
Conference participants emphasized that partner libraries will join the University of Sarajevo at the Fair, including the Library of the Academy of Sciences and Arts of BiH and the Sarajevo Library, and that this year they will target teens and users with disabilities.
The National Library Awareness Day’s goal is to remind citizens of the importance of library involvement in building a knowledge society. Libraries (public, academic, school, special) - partners from Bosnia and Herzegovina will participate in the promotion of their services on 25 October 2019, offering citizens various educational content (promotions, poetry evenings, round tables, exhibitions, etc.).
National Library Awareness Day in BiH 2019 will be celebrated by more than 50 different activities, implemented by partner institutions, and a message will be sent that there is no quality education without libraries.
