In Memoriam Dr. Sabira Hadžović
In Sarajevo, on 16 May 2019, Dr. Sabira Hadžović, University of Sarajevo professor emeritus passed away.
Prof. Dr. Sabira Hadzovic was born in Trebinje in 1929. She graduated from the Faculty of Pharmacy and Biochemistry, University of Zagreb, and received her doctorate at the Faculty of Pharmacy in Sarajevo.
She laid the foundation for drug quality control in Bosnalijek dd. in Sarajevo, and then took over the management of drug production as a technical director in whose scope were also development affairs, or pharmaceutical research.
In the period from 1990 to 2000 she acted as a Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy at the University of Sarajevo. She founded the long-standing president of the Pharmaceutical Society of FBiH and the Faculty of Pharmacy Chamber, and the initiator of the scientific journal Pharmacia.
She acted as President of the Executive Committee of the Council of the Congress of Bosniak Intellectuals and a member of the Board of Directors. She was the President of the Board of Directors of the Medical Faculty of the University of Sarajevo, a member of the Scientific Council of Bosnalijek d.d. and the President of the Committee for Medicinal and Aromatic Herbal Standards at the state level of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Prof. Dr. Sabira Hadžović was the first post-war governor of the Sarajevo Canton.
She was a member of the World League of Humanists and the president of the Health Committee of this organization. She actively participated in the program of social protection, rights and cultural education of women as President of Association MAK “Bosanka” and member of the Executive Board “Soroptimist.”.
Commemoration to Prof. Dr. Sabira Hadžović will be held on Monday 20 May 2019, at 12:00 in the University of Sarajevo Faculty of Pharmacy Amphitheater
