Cooperation within the PRO Budućnost project
On the occasion of the USAID project PRO-Future (Povjerenje, Razumijevanje, Odgovornost za Budućnost), implemented by Catholic Relief Services (CRS) with partners, , a meeting was held on Friday, 18 January, 2019 with Prof. Dr. Rifat Škrjelj, University of Sarajevo Rector with CRS representatives Mrs. Majda Behrem-Stojanov, Project Director and Mrs. Dajana Bogdanović. At the meeting were also present: Prof. Dr. Aleksandra Nikolić, University of Sarajevo Vice-Rector for International Cooperation and Prof. Dr. Melika Husić-Mehmedović, UNSA Center for Interdisciplinary Studies Director.
The PRO-Future project was presented by Mrs. Majda Behrem-Stojanov, pointing out that it is a project that aims to develop new approaches, together with key actors from the educational, religious, political and media domain, and to improve existing approaches in the field of building a sustainable and sustainable peace; in accordance with the principles offered in the Platform for Peace. The Peace Platform was created through the PRO-Future project, and it was verified in the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH, as well as in local municipal and city councils.
The meeting was an opportunity to exchange ideas and opinions, as well as to consider the possibility of establishing cooperation, as well as the possibilities of incorporating the values and principles of the Platform for Peace, as well as the general principles of building a lasting and sustainable peace in BiH in the education sector. The field of higher education, which is of key importance in the creation of professional and intellectual power, will be able to understand the existence of other and different narratives, promote and encourage critical thinking and recognize the importance of peace building.
Rector Škrijelj assessed the presented project as imporant and useful both for the University of Sarajevo and for the BH academic community and expressed the openness of the University of Sarajevo to achieve cooperation and joint activities on a project whose goal is a better future for Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Through the PRO Future project, in the field of higher education, significant activities were discussed, which were discussed during the meeting. PRO-Budućnost project in cooperation with five art academies from Sarajevo, Banjaluka, Široki Brijeg, Trebinje and Mostar, through two graphic workshops and over 10 exhibitions "Otpisi multioriginalne BiH" from the period 2014-2016, actively acted on the promotion education, original Bosnian-Herzegovinian graphics and in general the introduction and integration of young people and teaching staff from different ethnic groups and communities in BiH. Furthermore, in 2017, CRS together with three Theological Faculties, Faculty of Islamic Sciences of the University of Sarajevo, Catholic Theological Faculty of the University of Sarajevo, and the Orthodox Theological Faculty of St. Vasiliy Ostroski - University of East Sarajevo, launched a master program "Inter-religious Studies and Peace Building".
