The UNSA Institute of History Published Four E-Volumes in English

Institut za historiju UNSA objavio četiri e-izdanja na engleskom jeziku

The Institute of History,  University of Sarajevo has released four electronic volumes of scholarly monographs in English, marking a significant step towards the internationalization of Bosnian-Herzegovinian historiography and increasing the accessibility of domestic research results to the international scientific community.

The published e-volumes cover key topics from medieval, Ottoman, and modern history of Bosnia and Herzegovina, with a particular focus on political, administrative, legal, and demographic processes. The publications are as follows:

  • Enes Dedić, The Bosnian Kingdom and the Serbian Despotate (1402–1459)
  • Hana Younis, A Qadi in the Christian Empire: The Staff and Work of the Sharia Courts in Bosnia and Herzegovina (1878–1914)
  • Sedad Bešlija, Sanjak of Herzegovina in the 17th Century
  • Ramiza Smajić, Migrations and the Eyalet of Bosnia (1683–1718)

By publishing these e-volumes, the Institute of History has enabled the broader international academic community to access research based on longstanding work in archives and relevant original sources, offering new interpretations and contributing to a deeper understanding of the history of Bosnia and Herzegovina within a broader regional and imperial context.

This activity is part of the Institute's ongoing efforts to keep pace with modern trends in digital access to scientific publications, strengthen international cooperation, and further affirm the University of Sarajevo as an important hub for historiographical research in Southeast Europe.

In the first phase, the e-volumes are available for online access on a commercial basis.
