Minister of Science, Higher Education and Youth of the Sarajevo Canton visited the Institute of Language of the University of Sarajevo
Minister of Science, Higher Education and Youth of the Sarajevo Canton Prof. Dr. Adna Mesihović visited the University of Sarajevo Language Institute. Visits were also attended by Assistant Minister of Science Mr. Sci. Azemina Njuhović and Assistant Minister for Higher Education Dženita Viteškić. The delegation of the Ministry was hosted by the Director of the University of Sarajevo School Language Institute. Jasmin Hodžić with associates.
Dr. Hodžić has met those present with the activities of the Institute so far, as well as with the future development plan, highlighting the importance of this institute for the dissemination of linguistic culture, research and language development, as well as language expressions in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Minister Mesihović emphasized the importance of the work and action of the Institute of Language in the Sarajevo Canton, but also beyond.
“The visit to the Language Institute is extremely inspiring. Language is a fundamental element of our identity and it is important to preserve the richness of the linguistic heritage we have. Therefore, this visit has even greater importance because this institute has a key role to play in this,” said Minister Mesihović.
During the meeting, the participants of the Institute of Language highlighted good cooperation with professors from the Faculty of Philosophy of the University of Sarajevo on the implementation of various projects, but also stressed the overall need for greater support for humanities programs and projects, appreciating their importance as studies dealing with man and humanity. Humanist disciplines learn the importance of accepting democratic principles through understanding language, culture, history, social justice, because they address the issue of man and human values in different segments of human life.
The Minister agreed and stressed that the support of the Ministry of Science, Higher Education and Youth of KS in programs and projects from the humanities must not be absent.
“Humanist disciplines play a key role in understanding man and humanity. Through the study of language, culture, history and social justice, these disciplines help us better understand ourselves and the world around us. That is why it is important to support programs aimed at developing humanities. We are committed by cooperation between the Institute of Language and the Faculty of Philosophy. Through joint projects and research, we create bridges between linguistic sciences and other humanistic disciplines. This synergy is of great importance for the further development of science and education in our canton,” Minister Mesihović emphasized.
At the end of the visit, all present agreed that the Institute could and should be a scientific research base at the local and national levels, which will permanently contribute to the development of language and the nurturing of linguistic culture. Minister Mesihović expressed her confidence in the Institute of Language and Pleasure with current and future cooperation.
“The Language Institute has huge potential and I believe it will continue to contribute to the development of language and nurturing linguistic culture. The Ministry will provide full support to programs and projects that contribute to the achievement of the goals of this institute. Language is our heritage and needs to be nurtured and developed,” Minister Mesihović concluded.
