“Management in the conditions of migrant crises” International Summer School Successfully Implemented in Skopje
The UNSA Faculty of Criminalistics, Criminology and Security Studies and Faculty of Philosophy, University “Sv. Kiril i Metodij” from Skopje, in partnership with the University of Velika Gorica from Croatia, successfully implemented the International Summer School “Management in the conditions of migrant crises” in Skopje from 18 to 24 June 2018.
The International Summer School was officially opened on Tuesday, June 19, 2018 at the Military Academy in Skopje, where the entire program was realized. In addition to Deans our higher education institutions, Prof. Drs. Nedžad Korajlić and Ratko Duev, University “Sv. Cyril and Methodius” Rector, and the Minister of Defense of the Republic of Macedonia, Mrs. Radmila Sekerinska, as well as Director of the Center for Crisis Management, Mr. Agron Budžaku, and Director of the Directorate for Protection and Rescue, Mr. Adnan Dzaferoski addressed the atendees. The opening ceremony was also attended by the Ambassador of Bosnia and Herzegovina to Macedonia, H.E. Lepa Babić.
61 participants, students from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Macedonia, Croatia, as well as professionals and practitioners from organizations whose scope is broader the context of security, employees and volunteers of the non-governmental sector, as well as students from Bosnia and Herzegovina and Macedonia took part in this International Summer School. Within the program, the attendees also visited the Transit Registration Center Vinojug - a migration camp in Gevgelija. During the visit, lectures were held as well as practical training of participants in the camps, conducted by members of international organizations and local NGOs: IOM, UNHCR, Red Cross, NGO Legis, etc. Practical and preparatory exercises were realized according to the program, and the final exercise was realized in the Military Academy on 23/06/2018, with the full assistance of the Directorate for Protection and Rescue.
The awarding of the certificates to the participants was organized at the end of the Summer School, on 23 June 2018, when the evaluation of the Summer School was carried out by the participants.
With special pride we can say that the International Summer School “Management in the conditions of migrant crises” has been more than successfully implemented, not only fulfilling its goal, but also setting new standards in the field of lifelong learning programs and demonstrating how academic non-cyclical programs created by the Faculty Criminology and Security Studies, University of Sarajevo have recognized international quality, and we have once again proved that inter-institutional university cooperation is the best way to connect and synergize young people in the Western Balkans.
