Erasmus Mundus is a European Union program that facilitated the structured exchange of students and faculty members of Western Balkan countries higher education institutions and EU partner universities in both directions, as well as strengthening institutional capacities through inter-institutional cooperation.
The program’s objectives are the intensification of academic, cultural, political and economic cooperation between the EU member states and the Western Balkans countries, strengthening the international cooperation capacity at the Western Balkan universities through the exchange of experience and knowledge in organizing mobility programs for students, teachers and associates with the aim of studying, joint teaching, training, research and transfer of know-how and innovation, and the intensification of academic, language, and social and intercultural competencies of students, teachers and associates.
The program was funded by the European Commission and intended for countries that did not exercise the right to participate in the umbrella Erasmus program. At the end of 2013, grants for the latest projects under this program were approved, the implementation of which will last until 14 July 2018.
The University of Sarajevo has participated in every approved partnership for the Western Balkans region, and has established cooperation with 70 institutions from the member states of the European Union where our students, teachers and associates could realize study or professional stay during their work and/or education. Therefore, we joined a group of 1,296 higher education institutions from around the world who participated in this program, and our students, teachers and associates to a group of 35,000 end-users program.
