The final phase of the project "Adaptation and furnishing of the Senate hall and the ceremonial hall of the University of Sarajevo for the needs of the Rector's Library and the presentation of the scientific research and artistic work of the University of Sarajevo" was the reason for the meeting held today at the University of Sarajevo, which marked the intensive cooperation between the University of Sarajevo and the Embassy of Romania in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The Ambassador of Romania to Bosnia and Herzegovina, H.J. Mr. E. Anton Pacuretu met with the rector of the University of Sarajevo, prof. Ph.D. Rifat Škrijelj, in the presence of M.Sc. sci. Nadine Grebović-Lendo, Director of the Library of the University of Sarajevo, and M.Sc. sci. Miroslav Živanović, Head of the Office of the Rector.

This project of support to the Rector's Library and the presentation of scientific, research and artistic work is of exceptional importance for the University and will be a practical contribution to creating optimal conditions for the progress of the academic and artistic community of the University of Sarajevo. The completion of this project is also the announcement of the next project which will be realized by the end of 2023 and which will provide a sound and recording system for the needs of the Senate and other bodies of the University of Sarajevo, which will further improve the communication and organization of key events and processes at the University of Sarajevo. Funds for both projects were donated by the Government of Romania, through the Romanian Agency for International Development Cooperation (RoAid) and with the coordination of the Embassy of Romania in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

"We are excited to have been able to support this significant projects, especially considering that funding of education systems is always a challenge," Ambassador Pacuretu pointed out.

Rector Škrijelj warmly thanked the ambassador, the Embassy of Romania and Romania for the support provided. He emphasized that these are functionally very important projects for improving the academic infrastructure and quality of education at the University of Sarajevo. He also expressed openness to all forms of cooperation with the Embassy in order to further deepen this successful cooperation.

In addition to the mentioned projects, the Embassy of Romania also provided support to the Department of Romance Studies at the Faculty of Philosophy of the University of Sarajevo. Given that Romania is an active member of the Francophonie movement, they financially supported the French Language and Literature Department, enabling the purchase of books, didactic materials and scientific works for their library.

During the meeting, they discussed strengthening ties through various models of academic and cultural cooperation, and intensifying cooperation between the University of Sarajevo and universities in Romania. Ideas were exchanged about possible areas of cooperation, exchange of students and teachers, and possibilities of studying the Romanian language and culture at the University of Sarajevo.

This cooperation between the University of Sarajevo and the Embassy of Romania in Bosnia and Herzegovina represents a great example of international academic cooperation and friendship, and shows the importance of investing in education and culture. Both the University of Sarajevo and the Embassy of Romania in BiH are convinced that this cooperation will bring numerous positive changes and benefits for students, teachers and the entire academic community.
