University of Sarajevo: 200 awards given for scientific/artistic work to academic and scientific research staff
Today, in the University of Sarajevo Rectorate, an award ceremony was held for academic and scientific research staff based on the results of scientific/artistic work for the year 2022, in accordance with the Rulebook on awarding academic and scientific research staff of the University of Sarajevo.
For the sixth year in a row, the University of Sarajevo has been implementing the Rulebook on Rewards, in accordance with which financial rewards are awarded to academic and scientific research staff based on the results of scientific and artistic work.
On this occasion, 197 awards were given to members of the academic and scientific research staff from 25 members of the University of Sarajevo. For artistic work and work in the field of national humanistic disciplines, 3 prizes were awarded to a total of 6 candidates.
University of Sarajevo Rector, Prof. Dr. Rifat Škrijelj sent his heart-felt congratulations for the extraordinary achievements of the academic and research staff of the University of Sarajevo. “We are witnessing the significant contribution you made in the world of science and art. Your dedication and tireless work have resulted in extraordinary achievements, which not only represent a contribution within our institution, but also enrich our society,“ said Rector Škrijelj, and emphasized that the awards that are given today are not only a recognition of achievements but also an incentive for further work and research. "We are proud that you excel not only in the field of scientific research, but also in artistic creation and humanistic disciplines. This shows the breadth of your work, your ability to connect different worlds and to inspire us all", Rector Škrijelj told the award winners, concluding: “You are the foundation of our institution, and your works leave a mark that will surely motivate future generations.”
Minister for Science, Higher Education and Youth of Sarajevo Canton Prof. Dr. Adna Mesihović emphasized that the Ministry supported the awarding of awards for scientific excellence as a measure of motivation and promotion of scientific research activities, and expressed the hope that this fund will grow in the future with the number of awarded scientists.
“The very fact that the number of awardees for the year 2022 is five times higher compared to the number of awardees the first year speaks volumes about the need for additional encouragement of scientific excellence and promotion of the scientific production of this university, but also of other universities operating in the area of Sarajevo Canton,” she stated and emphasized that scientific excellence is not only the flow of knowledge, but also the flow of dedication, perseverance and love for the discovery and application of new scientific knowledge. She added that each winner of the award today represents, not only their personal achievement, but also an example of extraordinary perseverance, dedication and inspiration for all of us present here. “Their research is not only a contribution to the academic world but also to the wider society, laying the foundations for future development, innovation and solving common local and global challenges,” she concluded with congratulations.
Prizes for scientific/artistic work for the year 2022 were presented to the winners by the rector of the University of Sarajevo, Prof. Dr. Rifat Škrijelj, together with KS Prime Minister Mr. Nihad Uk, Minister of Science, Higher Education and Youth KS Prof. Dr. Adna Mesihović, Vice-Rector for Research, Prof. Dr. Mirza Dautbašić and the chairman of the Council for Science and Art UNSA Prof. Dr. Maja Arslanagić-Kalajdžić.
