"New Normal" and the goals of sustainable development - the position and perspective of Bosnia and Herzegovina

The Fifth Economic Forum of Bosnia and Herzegovina will be held online on 27 April 2021, at 11 am. The keynote speakers of the 2021 Forum are Garry Jacobs, President of the World Academy of Sciences and Arts, and Ismail Serageldin, Vice President of the Nizami Ganjavi International Center and former Vice President of the World Bank.

The program of the Economic Forum BiH 2021 is conceived in two panel sessions:
1.    IN SEARCH FOR "NEW NORMAL"
2.    GREEN ECONOMY: FROM SDGs OVER GREEN EUROPE TO WESTERN BALKANS AND BOSNIA AND HERZEGOVINA

In the first panel, together with Garry Jacobs - President of the World Academy of Sciences and Arts, Phoebe Koundouri - President of the European Association of Environmental and Resource Economists, Igor Lukšić - Prime Minister of Montenegro in the period 2010-2012, and Prof. Dr. Sabina Silajdžić - Associate Professor at the Faculty of Economics in Sarajevo. The moderator of the first session is Prof. Dr. Zlatko Lagumdžija, full professor at the Faculty of Economics in Sarajevo.

Ismail Serageldin - Vice President of Nizami Ganjavi International Center and former Vice President of the World Bank, Jan Fischer - Prime Minister of the Czech Republic in the period 2009-2010, Belma Hadžiomerović - Director will speak about the green economy and the goals of sustainable development in Europe, the Western Balkans and Bosnia and Herzegovina. marketing and corporate communications and sustainability management Raiffeisen Bank dd for BiH, and Senad Salkić - Executive Director for Capital Investments of JP Elektropriva BiH. The moderator of the second session is Prof. Dr. Fikret Čaušević, a full professor at the Faculty of Economics in Sarajevo.

The Economic Forum of Bosnia and Herzegovina 2021 will be opened by Prof. Dr. Jasmina Selimović - Dean of the Faculty of Economics in Sarajevo, Šefik Džaferović - Memeber of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Johann Sattler - Head of the Delegation of the European Union to Bosnia and Herzegovina and Special Representative of the European Union in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The focus of the 2021 Forum is on the green economy through the goals of sustainable development in Europe and what will be or is already "new normal" in the social order after the COVID-19 pandemic. The concept of sustainable development is related to environmental protection, social development planning, environmental, economic and political issues. Sustainable development combines both the care for the living world on the planet Earth and the preservation of the capacity of natural resources with the social and environmental challenges facing every society, state and humanity as a whole. The topicality of the concept of sustainable development is especially contributed by the challenges that come with endangering the environment. Through 17 goals, the path that the planet should take in the years ahead is clearly described. The green economy has been promoted in the last few years as a major change in thinking and is considered one of the possible successful solutions to improve economic growth while reducing resource consumption and preventing ecosystem destruction.
The organizers of the Economic Forum of Bosnia and Herzegovina are the Faculty of Economics, University of Sarajevo and the Institute of Economics Sarajevo. The basic idea of the Forum is to establish a unique platform that connects representatives of the business community, academia and economic policy makers, with the aim of promoting entrepreneurial initiatives and partnerships, cultivating public-private dialogue and presenting scientific and technological solutions to promote sustainable development of our country and region. The organization of the Forum for the Faculty of Economics in Sarajevo is one of the activities that seek to contribute to the community and encourage positive economic changes in our country.

This year's fifth Economic Forum was organized in cooperation with: the Foundation Shared Societies and Values (SSV), Nizami Ganjavi International Center (NGIC) and the World Academy of Arts and Sciences. Sciences - WAAS).
