Sarajevo Celebrated the National Library Awareness Day
Within marking 8 September - International Literacy Day, and in the ERASMUS+ Capacity Building in Higher Education (CBHE) project – “Library Support Services (LNSS): Modernization of Libraries in the Western Balkans through Staff Development and Reform of Library Services”, University of Sarajevo organized the National Library Awareness Day. The central event was a Walk for Libraries.
About one hundred participants of this event started the walk in the Vilsonovo setaliste from the Ars Aevi Bridge to Pofalici carrying their favorite book, or the book they want to read. The goal of the walk was to remind citizens of the importance of the library's participation in knowledge society building. Libraries (public, academic, school, specialized) from 48 partners from Canton Sarajevo and Bosnia and Herzegovina participated in this event by promoting their services, providing citizens with various educational contents (promotions, evening poetry, round tables, exhibitions, etc.). The mentioned activities were conducted also in Mostar and Bihac, according to the given time schedule, where partners in the LNSS project realization - Cantonal and University Library Bihac and the University of Mostar also participated.
Through the ERASMUS + Project Capacity Building in Higher Education (CBHE) – “Library Services Support Services (LNSS): Modernization of Libraries in the Western Balkan Countries through Personnel Development and Reforming Library Services” in which University of Sarajevo works on implementation, the aim is to promote libraries, library services and information and library science in general.
