The signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the University of Sarajevo and the University Utara Malaysia took place at the University of Sarajevo on Wednesday 17 May 2017.
The Memorandum was signed by Prof. Dr. Rifat Škrijelj, University of Sarajevo Rector, Prof. Dr. Dato 'Seri Dr. Mohamed Mustafa Ishak, University Utara Malaysia Vice-Chancellor, and Faculties of Economics Deans - Prof. Dr. Kemal Kozaric and Prof. Dr. Yusnidah Ibrahim. The signing of the MOU marked the beginning of cooperation between economic Faculties of the two universities. The memorandum includes joint activities in the areas of faculty, students exchange, research projects, publications, guest lectures and more.

The realization of cooperation with the University Utara in Malaysia resulted from the fact that the UNSA Faculty of Economics is accredited by the highest international accreditations and certifications for quality (AACSB, EPAS, AQA).

The signing ceremony and meeting, where discussions were held on future cooperation, were attended by H.E. Anuar Bin Kasman, Ambassador of Malaysia in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Mrs. Julia Suai, Second Secretary, University of Sarajevo Vice-Rectors: Prof. Drs. Aleksandra Nikolic, Aida Hodzic, Zeljko Sain and Zijad Mehic; Faculty of Economics in Sarajevo Vice-Deans: Prof. Dr. Elvir Cizmic and Doz. Dr. Jasmina Selimovic, and the Faculty of Economics, University Utara representatives of: Prof. Dr. Adzrool Idzwan bin Ismail and Mr. Sci. Mohd Idzwan bin Yacob.
