Tempus Projects

 

Tempus Projects in which University of Sarajevo Participates Presented

 

At the press conference held in the UNSA Rectorate, on 24 December 2013 the press conference took place at which Tempus projects in which UNSA participates were presented Prof. Dr. Faruk Mekic, UNSA Vice-Rector for Scientific Research/Artistic Research and three Tempus projects coordinators: Prof . Dr. Jasmina Talam, Prof. Dr. Samim Konjicija and Prof. Dr. Aleksandra Nikolic presented the goals and UNSA’s achievements within those projects. Prof . Dr. Faiza Mustovic, Prof . Dr. Mirha Djikic and Prof. Dr. Suad Arnautovic who are also coordinators of Tempus projects in which the University of Sarajevo participates, were present at the press release.


“Tempus, one of the oldest EU programs, has two general objectives which are improving the quality of higher education and the connection with the labor market’s needs, and building the capacity of institutions of higher education, with an emphasis on the capacity for international cooperation and the ongoing process of modernization" said Vice Rector Prof . Dr. Faruk Mekic and pointed out that in the Western Balkans region, the Tempus program aimed at contributing to the preparation and potential participation of EU member countries in the Lifelong Learning Programme ( Lifelong Learning Programme ).


Coordinator of the Tempus project “Introducing interdisciplinarity in music studies in the Western Balkans in line with the European perspective – (InMusWB )” Prof. Dr.  Jasmina Talam, when speaking about the project, stated that its goals were creating  a new master study - Methodology of piano, Modernization of the 2nd cycle of studies in the Program of Musicology and Ethnomusicology, Department of Ethnomusicology and the Department of Wind Instruments and Accordion, and the introduction of new modules - Lifelong Learning and Management in Music for all 2nd cycle of studies students, Lifelong Learning Courses for Teachers of Music in High Schools  in FB&H, training of teachers and administrative staff in the EU, guest lecturers of professors, digitizing of records from the legacy of academician Cvjetko Rihtman in the Phonogrammearchiv in Vienna.


Prof . Dr. Aleksandra Nikolic, coordinator of the Tempus project “
Curricular Reform of Heritage Sciences in Bosnia and Herzegovina – BIHERIT” underlined the importance of these projects when comparing the situation with the BH Universities after the war and today. She stated that the Tempus program had the most significant role in strengthening the University of Sarajevo. During the presentation of the project, Prof . Dr. Aleksandra Nikolic listed that his goals: reform of the curriculum at the Department of Archaeology at the master study at the UNSA Faculty of Philosophy, development and presentation of the “heritage” studies (art history, conservation studies , museum studies ) at several BH universities at the history departments, creating the conditions for the sustainable continuation of study programs reform (infrastructure, human resources, networking) and promotion of the cultural heritage of shared values, increase quality of life and contributing to sustainable development.


In presenting the basic information about the Tempus project “Developing information literacy for lifelong learning and knowledge economy in the Western Balkan countries”, Prof. Dr. Samim Konjicija stated that the main objectives of this project is the development of information literacy programs for lifelong learning, the development of innovative online modules for lifelong learning, harmonization of existing information literacy programs in the Western Balkans, strengthening the capacity of higher education institutions of the Western Balkan countries in terms of strategic planning and implementation of information literacy programs, develop policies and recommendations in the area of information literacy approach to the development and dissemination of information literacy and ensuring sustainability of the IL programs.


“The University of Sarajevo has participated in the project through the stays of project involved personnel at the project partner institutions with the aim of preparing and developing the IL programs, preparation and publication of brochures pertaining to information literacy- three brochures and a book, and in organizing a two-day workshop at the University of Sarajevo” said Prof . Dr. Konjicija and pointed out that in the coming period, the implementation of information literacy courses within the University of Sarajevo curricula had been planned.
